There are few things in this world as universally loved as aliens. One of them is obviously a cake. Everyone has a favorite one, and the flavors that they might have are pretty much endless. But what flavor could an alien one have? Or more exactly a Mexican alien cake? If this might sound curious, then read on and we will get into more detail on how a concept like this is even born.
The original reveal
How did we arrive here? How did this Mexican alien cake even become a thing? It all started with a real alien reveal, the now famous Mexican congress incident. Here two tiny, Peruvian aliens were revealed to the public, an event that caused a lot of discussions on an international level.
While many tried to discredit this public proof, the truth was already out and spreading like wildfire. It was only a matter of time that somebody capitalized on this and created something that could actually generate money. This clearly led to the creation of the Mexican alien cake. The connection between the two is quite clear and we will show this quite clearly.
When big shots chime in
Elon Musk needs no introduction. As the owner of X, Tesla and Space-X, most people have heard about him or at least some of his more controversial comments or deeds. But with his popularity comes a big ego as well, and he likes to have his opinion heard.
Elon Musk is a well known alien skeptic, and owning a social platform that is larger than most countries, he did chime in, once a certain video went viral. This video is a fake one, where a realistically looking Mexican alien cake is being cut, while being presented as something that is a newsreel. This is not the case as all of this is just a good-hearted joke.
This is quite a clever trick, and it has to be said that this Mexican alien cake looks both very convincing and delicious at the same time. It looks so good in fact, that Elon Musk noticed it, and quickly re-tweeted it, saying “it was cake all along”. This is a double joke, as it lightly makes fun of the incident and it also references (as many believe) the popular Portal video games, where a cake was a running gag.

Making a quick buck
But who made this amazing Mexican alien cake? It was none other than Mr. Ben Culler, a real culinary artist, who also participated in the world-famous Netflix series “Extreme Cake Makers”. And his out of this world tallents are quite clear judging by his most famous work.
He is so talented that many people cannot believe this, when seeing a screen grab, or just the first part of the video, where he clearly cuts a slice from the Mexican alien cake. And that is too bad, as not only they would see the actual, delicious reveal, but they would also have a blast from the past, as this reveal is paired with the main theme of the stellar The X-Files series.
Exploding in popularity
But with all the hype surrounding it, it is clear that the Mexican alien cake did do the job that it was most likely intended to do, meaning gather some serious views for Mr. Culler. Even before this, he was quite a popular influencer with forty three thousand followers on YouTube, but Elon Musk’s tweet was the one that truly blew up and garnered popularity.
To date more than three hundred sixty thousand retweets showcased this culinary masterpiece and made it probably the world's most famous cake for a while. Who knew that when you combine things that people love, and make something creative out of it, people all over the world will re-share it.
Is this the first time?
Was there a Mexican alien cake before this or is this the first time something like this happened? Realistic cakes are quite popular these days, and there is real demand for various types.
Alien cakes in general can be fairly popular. They are often ordered for birthdays for UFO enthusiasts. But these are usually more in the funny family present category and they mostly consist of the fairly overused “little green men” tropes.
So in many ways this Mexican alien cake was actually a stroke of genius and it used a very popular alien reveal as a basis to garner as many looks from around the globe as popular. The fact that it looked both good and tasty probably helped quite a bit.
In conclusion one might ask himself, did this small online incident help UFO lovers cause or not? On one hand it did popularize the existence of aliens to a wider audience. On the other hand, it also gave a bit more ammunition for skeptics in the war of words that goes on for decades in the online sphere. One thing that is certain, is that we are glad that instead of live ammunition, something far sweeter was used.
